JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

In the role of Technician, you will manage projects and expectations and will be a valued team member that communicates effectively using any and all methods necessary to succeed at the project. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Confidently communicate with the team and client to correctly interpret the scope of work required by clients.
  • Manage budgets and schedules to meet team and client goals.
  • Proactively communicate with internal and external teammates, and with clients.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience with field investigation methods, the scientific method, data collection, and field work safety for both you and your team.
  • Support in field inspections of property damage/conditions in the property claims and litigation markets to determine the cause(s), origin(s), and extents of failures.
  • During field inspections, collect all data required to provide accurate and defensible expert opinions.
  • Comfort with climbing ladders, working from bucket lifts, and working at heights.
  • Support in research required to provide accurate and defensible expert opinions.
  • Support in any calculations required to support investigations and expert opinions.
  • Collaborate with team members to provide the best solutions available to meet client needs.
  • Support in the preparation of repair scopes and preliminary repair designs as required.
  • Willingness to be trained in any aspect of the job.
  • Regular availability for travel, including out-of-state travel.
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of building code requirements and industry standards.
  • Maintain a profitable workload.
  • Manage and grow business relationships with clients in the property claims and litigation markets, including introducing clients to other services offered by BSC Forensics.
  • Support experts in client meetings, client presentations, and marketing events.
  • Maintain a consistent and strong independent work ethic.
  • Maintain organized communications and records.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
  • Use of staff support, systems, and equipment provided by BSC Forensics.

QUALIFICATIONS

The role of Technician requires the following education, certification, and training.

  • Accredited bachelor’s degree in architectural engineering, civil engineering, structural engineering, architecture, or a directly related field – master’s degree, PhD, or other advanced education or certification in a related field is a plus.
  • Engineer In Training certification is a strong plus.
  • Fluency in English is required – additional languages are a plus.
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job such as climbing roofs, working in construction or demolition zones, carrying equipment, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, etc.
  • Work in-office or work from home.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving history is required.
